5 Ways to Live a Wellness Based Lifestyle

Several years ago, I wrote the book Simply Wellness: Learning to Live a Wellness Based Lifestyle One Day at a Time. In this book, I detail the 4 components of Wellness which are Physical, Emotional, Social and Spiritual and ways in which we can improve in each area. While living a Wellness Based Lifestyle involves work, increasing Wellness can be a fun and rewarding, yet simple journey.

Here are 5 simple steps you can take now to improve your life drastically and to begin regaining control of your health:

Make certain you flood your body with vitamins and minerals. These little guys are essential for health and all functions of the human body. The best way to go about this is by making certain to consume a wide variety of health whole foods. This includes lots of colorful fresh fruits and vegetables, healthy protein sources including fatty fish like salmon, oils such as olive and coconut, and whole grains. Supplementing with a quality multi-vitamin is also a good step to take. We carry an affordable, top-notch multi-vitamin here at Prana Chiropractic and Wellness Center.

Make certain to exercise. The great thing about this step is it does not have to be any complicated or high-impact workouts. Just simply get out and walk at a brisk pace 4 times a week, beginning with 20 minutes per walk. In approximately 4 weeks, up the time to 30 minutes per walk. This will provide so many Wellness Building benefits and have you well on the way to living a Wellness Based Lifestyle!

Drink plenty of water. The amount of water needed varies with each person based on factors such as sex, weight, activity levels and so forth, but the basic guideline I give to those I work with is drink a minimum of 64 ounces of clean, filtered water per day. Every cell in the body requires water in order to function. Without water, the cells die, which leads to disease and dysfunction, so do yourself a favor and stay well hydrated.

Maintain good hygiene. This includes the basics like brushing your teeth, cleaning your living environment regularly and washing your hands often, but just as importantly it means making certain to have your spine checked regularly by a Chiropractor to ensure there is no nervous system interference. If there is interference occurring in the nervous system as a result of misalignment (Vertebral subluxation), an adjustment is in order to prevent further degeneration and dysfunction. A vertebral subluxation can be the root cause of many diseases and the source of dysfunction and it Chiropractic alone that locates, analyses, and corrects these life decreasing occurrences.

Rest and Repeat. Take time for yourself, at least an hour a week, where you engage in the a relaxing activity that YOU enjoy. Do not include anyone else if possible. In addition, make sure you get 7 to 8 hours of restful sleep each night. If you have trouble sleeping, talk with you natural healthcare provider about nutritional supplement options. Also, make sure the room is dark, turn off all electronic devices that you can, try to get into a routine where you go to sleep at the same time each night, and if all else fails, try counting sheep! As my old science professor would ask, “pretty simple right?” These are simple steps that we all can implement with very little effort. Make the commitment to these 4 simple steps right now. Next time you’re at the grocery store make certain to buy an array of healthy whole foods. Drink plenty of water and exercise regularly, as well as make certain to schedule an appointment with a licensed Chiropractor to have your spine checked as soon as possible!
